GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — The Time and the Valleys Museum has just created a an informative self driving tour around the four reservoirs of the Delaware Water Supply System. The tour is a safe way to get some fresh air and experience history right from your car.

The drive takes you first to the Time and the Valleys Museum to view the exhibition Tunnels, Toil and Trouble: NYC’s Quest for Water and the Rondout-Neversink Story, (currently open by appointment only) then to the Rondout and Neversink Reservoirs in Sullivan County, and then to the two reservoirs in Delaware County – the Pepacton and Cannonsville reservoirs.

It includes an overview of NYC’s three water supply systems and an explanation of why NYC needs upstate water. All four reservoirs and the towns taken to build each of the reservoirs are explored through old photos and interesting text and facts, which help bring to life the lost towns and the building of the reservoirs.

Sponsored by Neversink Blooms, with funding made possible in part by a beautification grant from Sullivan Renaissance, the beautiful, full-color, 12-page Driving Tour booklet is available for free at the Time and the Valleys Museum (currently open by appointment only) and by mail for $5.
